Focusing on Form

Nulty+ has recently completed work on the lighting scheme for the new 37,000 sq ft retail space the Body Studio in Selfridges. The new retail concept within the London flagship store is completely dedicated to women??s body wear. Working closely with the team at Selfridges and the interior architects Neri & Hu, Nulty+ created the iconic department store??s first all LED scheme, that truly complements the luxurious, feminine and uncluttered aesthetic of the interior design.

Each individual retail pocket within the studio needed its own identity and by using highly considered lighting details alongside different materials, Nulty+ was able to provide a unique mood and character for each space. The lighting concept reinforced the design vision rather than taking over, creating an intimate, calming and personal shopping experience for women, with a focus on making them look and feel beautiful. 

 

One of the unique aspects of the design is the different retail experience customers have depending on the time of day. During daylight hours natural light floods the space from the courtyard and two large skylights. At night the studio is transformed to an intimate and visually stimulating retail space, where the light tells a story and showcases the different contrast between the areas.
