The Wood Awards extends deadline

Due to popular demand the deadline for this year??s Wood Awards has been extended to Friday 31st May.

 

As the timber industry??s premier award scheme for excellence in architecture and furniture with wood, The Wood Awards recognise outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation, as well as promoting timber as a sustainable building material.

 
Anyone associated with an eligible project, architects, designers, manufacturers, engineers, timber suppliers, consultants or even the client themselves can enter. For professionals it??s an opportunity to showcase work they??re proud of, get recognition for their achievements, demonstrate expertise in their field and raise awareness of their company.

Entry is simple, and requires:
Permission from the owner of the building or furniture
Contact details of the key companies involved
A brief description of the project, including as much information on the wood, wood products and its sourcing as possible (species, brands, country of origin, etc.)
At least three high resolution, jpeg images

 
The competition is open to architectural projects and furniture pieces designed in the UK and completed between January 2010 and June 2013 which have not been previously entered.

 
Application is free and any number of entries can be submitted. A new online entry form on www.woodawards.com, featuring a ??save your progress?? option, makes the process even easier.

Structural

Repair & Adaptive Reuse

Small Project

Bespoke Furniture

Production Made Furniture

 
In 2013, Canada Wood returns as lead sponsor, joining the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), the Carpenters?? Company, Wood for Good and TRADA on the rosta of main sponsors. Other supporters include American Softwoods, BRE and the Forestry Commission.

 
For the first time in the competition??s history, the shortlisted furniture pieces will be exhibited at this year??s 100% Design, from 18th to 21st September ?? the biggest trade event at the London Design Festival.

 
A showcase of all the shortlisted projects will also be exhibited at the UK Timber Expo from 24th to 25th September, at its new location at the NEC, Birmingham.

 
The competition is also offering the opportunity to help grow all entrants?? social media presence through the Wood Awards?? Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest sites. This online exhibition of entries will give applicants the opportunity to increase their profile before the shortlist is even considered.
