Avondzon, a renowned Belgian geriatric care facility in Erpe-Mere has opted for dynamic Halio insulating glass units. A total of 132 windows make up a glass roof that, at 304m2, connects the old wing, built in 1978, with the new one completed in 2019.

The first experiences with the glass roof are all positive. Avondzon CEO Katrien Thysebaerdt explains that it stimulates the residents to get in contact and encourages mobility. With a Color Rendering Index of 97, Halio glass is particularly neutral and transparent when it is not tinted. Halio goes from light to dark in under three minutes that can be halted at any stage. Halio glass reaches the highest levels of efficiency with Ug values up to 0.6 W/(m2K), which makes it possible to manage the heat gains and reduce the cooling needs. For architects and builders, it facilitates obtaining BREEAM, LEED, and WELL certifications.
