Sika’s seamless flooring transforming space

Sika helped transform a building in Kent into a fully-operational TV Studio and event space for the specialist fit-out and finishing contractor Lucas.

To facilitate the storage space’s renovation into a TV studio capable of hosting and broadcasting events, the company required a robust surface adept at withstanding foot traffic wear and tear. This led to the specification of Sika ComfortFloor® PS-23, a seamless, resin-based system, which not only enhances user comfort and safety, its odourless, solvent-free properties contribute to a healthy indoor environment.

The ComfortFloor® solution was installed across a 120m2 area incorporating a corridor and studio entrance. Initial work involved applying a layer of Sikafloor®-161 primer to the building’s concrete substrate, followed by a wear layer of Sikafloor®-330, before a top coat of Sikafloor®-305W.

The smooth, durable yet comfortable and aesthetically pleasing finish was installed using a trowel, squeegee and spiked roller. The studio’s floor was installed over a three-day period as part of the Sika ComfortFloor® rapid installation process.
