Wilo circulating pumps have been integrated into Auckley Primary School in Doncaster, after the school decided to extend its classroom area.
After initially considering the use of a ground source heat pump to provide the heating for the extension, it became apparent that there would be even greater benefit for the school if the ground source heat pump replaced the existing gas fired heating system and provided heating, cooling and hot water for the whole building.
Wilo Stratos low energy pumps were used for the heating circulators so as to maximise efficiency and performance. With heating and hot water demand expected to be in the region of 190,000kWh/y and the heat pump expected to use under 62,000kWh/y, there is an estimated annual energy saving of around 118,000kWh. When compared to the previous natural gas fired system running at 70 per cent efficiency, this equates to a CO2 reduction of around 17.7 tonnes a year.
