Benoy reinforces import-export of design leadership

Benoy has welcomed Global Design Director, Simon Bee, to its Asia Headquarters in Hong Kong.

Relocating from Benoy??s London Studio to Hong Kong, Simon??s move has reinforced the company??s commitment to its continued success in Asia and the deeply held philosophy of importing and exporting design around Benoy??s international studios.

With over 30 years?? experience as an architect, urban designer and masterplanner, Simon established Benoy??s Masterplanning Team in 2000 and has been heavily involved in the leadership of the London Studio. As the lead designer behind the high-profile Yas Island Masterplan and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi in the UAE and Media City in the UK, Simon is a signification addition to Benoy??s creative offer in Asia.

Simon commented, ?I will be working alongside our teams in Asia to cross-pollinate ideas and extend Benoy??s design knowledge in the region. Of course this works both ways and as part of my role as Global Design Director, I will be overseeing the two-way communication of best practice design between the East and West.??

The move confirms Benoy??s ability to provide on-the-ground support and expertise anywhere in the world. As Asia continues to look to the UK, Europe and the Middle East for investment opportunities, Benoy is in a unique position to not only grow in the region but also help realise the aspirations of partnering firms overseas.

Simon will also be committing to Benoy??s growing portfolio in Southeast Asia. Proving to be an incredibly dynamic and exciting market for the firm, Benoy is currently delivering high-profile projects including Changi Airport??s future Terminal 4 and Project Jewel in Singapore, the Tanjung Aru Eco Development in Kota Kinabalu, Subang Jaya City Centre in Selangor and the soon to open Ciputra Artrepreneur in Jakarta ??a significant contribution to the arts scene for the city and Indonesia.

Simon concluded, ?The work we are doing in Southeast Asia really demonstrates the breadth of what Benoy can deliver ?? from Airports to Leisure, Arts, Mixed-Use and Regeneration. As I come on board to provide design leadership in the region, I can see how the completely international yet local outlook which we can contribute to the design of these projects becomes so very tangible”.
