Fireglass UK has completed a programme of specialist glazing works at the new Hot Mill School in Ebbw Vale, Wales. Fireglass UK was on-site for eight weeks to undertake the supply and installation of hardwood timber screens. More specifically the scope of works spanned approximately 300 pieces of glass and sealed fire rated/acoustic double-glazed units. Specified in accordance with Part B of the building regulations and to ensure compliance with the BB93 standards which govern acoustic performance in schools, Fireglass UK supplied and installed a combination of Pyroguard EI rated products. Manufactured by CGI International, these included Pyroguard EI60 at 23mm with an acoustic rating of 40dB and Pyroguard EI30 at 15mm with an acoustic rating of 38dB. In addition to Pyroguard fire resistant glass, Fireglass UK managed the specialist acoustic glazing requirements of the project, which also demanded a bespoke approach to achieve a rating of 56dB in some areas.
