Liverpool-based K2 Architects has completed one of its biggest ever retail briefs by facilitating the launch of two upmarket restaurants at Liverpool ONE.
K2 Architects worked with the Liverpool ONE management team to transform existing retail space for bar and brasserie Browns and hamburger brand Byron. K2 was charged with making sure that the existing space was prepared for the tenants. The restaurants then brought in their design teams to brand the units.
The dining outlets will occupy the former Zavvi unit on Paradise Place next to Jamie??s Italian. Browns has taken a unit of more than 6,400 sq ft. Meanwhile Byron will occupy almost 3,900 sq ft in its first North West venture. Both are due to open in spring.
K2 Architects director Kevin Horton said the firm worked closely with the retailers, their design teams and the Liverpool ONE management company to provide the full spectrum of construction and design consultancy services.
?This latest completion for Liverpool ONE underlines the key strengths of our design, feasibility, planning, consultation and management services,?? he said. ?The facilitation of the restaurants involved overseeing major structural alteration works to divide the space. Escalators and lifts were removed before partition walling, stairs, concrete mezzanine decks and new structural glass shopfronts were installed. This is the largest retail unit K2 Architects has facilitated to date, demonstrating Liverpool ONE??s confidence in our ability to deliver. We look forward to the opening of the restaurants.??
K2 has previously completed work on the Harvey Nichols, Dr Martens, Starbucks, Office and Alive and Dirty stores for Liverpool ONE. Co director Mark Davies said the firm is keen to work with businesses that are expanding into new retail spaces.
?K2 Architects prides itself on delivering a bespoke, client driven service that balances the needs of both the retailer and management company,?? he said. ?We can plan, design, manage, prepare and deliver retail spaces. Critically at K2 we understand the importance of branding. We have experience of collaborating with in-house designers to maximise spaces for brand impact. By listening to our clients requirements we respond with solutions that work. Further, the directors are the key point of contact on all projects. K2 has built a strong track record in its work with Liverpool ONE. We are keen to use this as a platform to win further work preparing retail space in shopping centres in the North West and across the UK.??
