Ballymore and Camlins unveil new Linear Park

Plans for the new Linear Park were last week unveiled at an event hosted by Ballymore and Camlins, the landscape architects behind the project.

Set to open in 2014, the Linear Park will run from Vauxhall station through the heart of Embassy Gardens and the adjacent new US Embassy to Battersea Power Station. This kilometre-long beautiful green avenue will form the lively centrepiece of the new landmark Embassy Gardens development and the wider nine Elms regeneration area.

Winding its way through Embassy Gardens?? 2,000 homes, vibrant mix of bars and restaurants and 130,000 sq ft of retail, the Linear Park is modelled on New York??s High Line. Designed by Camlins, this will be a living, breathing park for everyone. Residents can literally step out of their front doors and into its garden squares, open green commons and majestic tree-lined streets. Those both living in and visiting the area can also enjoy an array of community and cultural initiatives.

Masterplanned by Sir Terry Farrell Nine Elms it is predicted by some that the project presents the last occasion that a 200 hectare area of central London will be developed from a ??totally blank canvas??.

By ensuring that open green space and accessible communal areas are a central part of the masterplan, the neighbourhood is set to be a buzzing and cosmopolitan destination; one of the capital??s most sought after places to live.

Embassy Gardens by  Ballymore Group, forms the centrepiece of Nine Elms on the South Bank or, what Sir Terry Farrell describes as, ??London??s third city??. Following its official UK launch in September 2012, Embassy Gardens has proved highly popular with those looking for a central riverside location linked to the cultural heart of the South Bank. Its 1,982 luxury suites, one and two bedroom apartments and three-bedroom penthouses will be ready for residents from 2015.

Influenced by the architectural style of New York??s meatpacking district and London??s Victorian and Edwardian mansion blocks, the apartments have a unique and distinctive style.

Sean Mulryan, Founder, Chairman & Group CEO of Ballymore Group comments:

?I am delighted with the reaction and widespread positive reviews of our exciting development here at Embassy Gardens. I love the concept of The Linear Park. It will be a lovely addition to London’s Green landscape.

“Nine Elms has really captured people’s imagination as the place to live in central London. It will soon be a community of 16,000 new homes and Ballymore is very proud of the part it is playing in all of this.”

Huw Morgan, Director of Camlins adds: ?The Linear Park is a new London green: a fusion of enclosed garden squares, open green commons and majestic tree-lined streets. A 24-hour park for a 24-hour city.??
