Steelcase, a global leader in office furniture and workplace research, has launched its latest research initiative: Living on Video. Steelcase then demonstrated to the audience the potential with this technology by having VP of Product Marketing and Applications, Allan Smith present the new research via telepresence from Steelcase HQ in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.
Mark Spragg, Managing Director of Steelcase UK explained: ?As the workforce becomes more distributed across the globe, video will continue to play an essential role in connecting both teams and individuals. But while the market for videoconferencing, teleconferencing etc. have grown, solutions designed to improve the user experience have not kept the same pace and sophistication.
?More and more we see distributed teams meeting on video for weekly sessions, individual team members making quick Skype calls or sharing via instant messenger or live meetings, with voice or video often part of the mix. As a result, the way we live, work and learn is giving way to an emerging new behaviour: Living on Video. Research shows that this behaviour is following a natural course of market adoption: for some individuals and industries it??s a bold new way to meet from afar, and for others it??s the new normal.
?So tonight we bring you Living on Video ?? research, thoughts and solutions that have the capacity to revolutionise how video can and is used in the work environment, improving interactions between local and globally distributed colleagues in a profound new way.??
The event also marked the UK launch of the company’s updated media:scape line, including the new media:scape mini, media:scape mobile, and the new FrameOne Bench with integrated media:scape technology.
