Reduce your footprint

Acheson & Glover (A&G), a long established supplier of premium quality hard landscaping, has recently seen a growing demand from contractors on major retail developments including new shopping centres. The company is justly proud of many of these schemes, which include Tesco, M&S and McDonalds outlets and how it has managed to cost effectively help create stunning pedestrian areas, which will stand the test of time. This has been achieved without compromising on the company??s commitment to providing developers with materials with the lowest carbon footprint in the industry. A&G flags have been used to stunning effect at a leisure and retail development next to the River Clyde in Glasgow. ??Springfield Quay?? combines a river-side promenade and a large open pedestrian area on two sides of a retail & leisure complex. Over 4,000sqm of A&G’s ??TerraPave?? paving has been laid to create a distinctive urban piazza. The striking colour combination reflects the style and form of the surrounding architecture and brings a high degree of visual unity to the project. Edinburgh based architects, Crerar & Partners, were particularly pleased with the paving materials. Project architect, Donald Hodgert states: “Much of the original riverside walkway was paved in natural granite and we needed paving that would give us that continuity of colour and texture. A&G??s TerraPave flags gave us this and were just right for the scheme.?? ??The Marshes?? stands on a 28 acre site and is at the forefront of modern shopping centre developments in Dundalk, in the Republic of Ireland. Links to the town centre go through a plaza, which used over 5,000sqm of A&G??s TerraPave natural aggregate flags. With Dundalk currently looking to advance its commercial status, this development will definitely help. A&G has a strong focus on energy management. The company??s exclusive use of their own locally quarried raw materials, plus their investment in the industry??s most modern manufacturing plants, helps keep their energy consumption down. ?That??s good for our costs and prices and puts A&G ahead in manufacturing efficiency,?? remarks Stuart Cook, commercial director of A&G. As a result A&G??s hard landscaping range has the lowest carbon footprint when compared with other leading hard landscaping companies.
