The Cruden Group wins big

The Cruden Group achieved triple success at this year??s Homes For Scotland Awards, picking up the coveted ??Home Builder of the Year 2012?? accolade, in addition to a further two category awards at a prestigious ceremony in Edinburgh.

The Cruden Group impressed the panel of judges with its varied selection of high-quality, affordable developments across the East and West of Scotland.

More than 700 industry representatives in attendance at the high-profile awards ceremony, billed as the premier event in the Scottish home building industry??s calendar, then voted The Cruden Group ??Home Builder of the Year.??

The judges commented that The Cruden Group demonstrated a number of impressive traits including:

??    Effective partnership working with the public sector to make a significant contribution to meet housing and regeneration needs
??    A forward-thinking approach to home building and the design process
??    A commitment to creating and sustaining jobs through the implementation of affordable homes
??    The promise to address the needs of individual customers via a range of customer focused systems
??    The drive to reach out to the first time buyer market through a sustained campaign of press and radio activity

The company submitted six entries for this year??s awards, four of which were shortlisted with two going on to become category winners for ??Best Home Design?? and ??Best Partnership in Affordable Housing Delivery.??

??    Best Home Design for The Melrose at The Crescent, a three bedroom terraced home at Govan Gateway, Glasgow.

The judges were impressed with these well-designed, affordable family homes forming part of a wider mixed tenure redevelopment. They felt the design of The Melrose makes the most of every opportunity for enhanced amenity and the use of generous-sized windows means the rooms are filled with light creating a sense of space.

The judges felt The Melrose meets modern needs in a compact economic form while the street layout creates a distinct new place.

??    Best Partnership in Affordable Housing Delivery ??for Evolution in Gracemount – 21st Century Homes for Edinburgh initiative in partnership with City of Edinburgh Council.

The judges felt this distinctive high-quality development supported a new sustainable mixed-use community with a strong sense of local identity.

The development is tenure blind and incorporates an affordable market sale mix. Potential purchasers have benefitted from advice and support in relation to financial options for home buying, including free independent financial advice.

The winners were announced at the Homes for Scotland annual lunch which took place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday, May 4.

Kevin Reid, Managing Director of The Cruden Group, said: ?We??re extremely proud to be voted the Homes for Scotland Home Builder of the Year 2012. These awards recognise the outstanding quality and value Cruden offers buyers in the wide range of new homes we build each year.

?We have led the way in mixed tenure and low cost affordable housing development in Scotland and as a responsible developer, we understand the barriers faced by people on low incomes and the importance of high-quality, affordable housing for all.

?The Cruden Group has enjoyed tremendous support from its partner organisations as well as the ongoing backing of new Scottish Government initiatives, all of which have enabled us to deliver award-winning developments and innovative financial solutions for the benefit of new homebuyers.

?I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners and all of our staff for their dedication to the successful regeneration of communities across the East and West of Scotland, proving that even in these difficult economic times, it is possible to deliver high-quality, affordable housing in Scotland.??
